Are you a hot tub owner? Are you finding that your energy bills are coming in particularly high? Then we’ve put together a few easy tips that you can do to make your hot tub more energy efficient and reduce those costly bills.

Cover

This is probably the number one option for every owner. A hot tub cover is one of the best energy-saving products you can purchase. We all know heat rises, which means most heat is lost from your tub through the top of it – so having a proper cover on will help retain that heat.

There are a number of covers available on the market but look for one that has double wrapped foam cores and full-length seals to ensure the entire top of the tub is secured.

Thermal Blanket

Another great addition to helping you to retain the heat in the pool is to use a thermal blanket. Sitting on top of the water, this helps to reduce the evaporation process and can stop up to 95% of the heat escaping!

Set a timer

Most modern hot tubs come with advanced control settings that allow you to control the temperature and timings. Keeping a tub at a constant high temperature can cost a lot of money, so reducing it to a lower temp and setting a timer for it to increase ahead of you using it, will help you save more money on heating costs.

Filters

Perhaps not an obvious choice, but a blocked filter can reduce water flow and force your pumps to work harder. Keep yours clean and replace it when needed to ensure maximum efficiency; you will soon notice you are saving more money in the long run.
